At the law offices of Glenn Koopersmith, in Garden City, we have over 30 years of experience representing men and women in matrimonial and family law appeals. Contact our offices for a confidential consultation.

When we represent you in a matrimonial appeal, we review the underlying motion or trial transcript (including the documents admitted in evidence). We then meticulously research the law and painstakingly craft a legal brief that supports your argument. Our experience helps us understand the types of argument, both written and oral, that are compelling to the appellate courts. Our long history of success is a testament to our skill.

Child Custody Appeals

Child custody and visitation determinations must consider the best interests of the child, but should also support and encourage the rights of parents. If an error has diminished your rights as a parent or negatively affected your children, we can help you seek a reversal of the ruling.

Support Appeals

  • Child Support: The payment of child support, which is governed by specific guidelines, is based on the income of the parties and other related factors. If the trial court abused its discretion or committed an error of law in rendering a determination, we will help you seek to overturn that ruling.
  • Spousal Support or Maintenance Appeals: If a court has abused its discretion or committed an error of law in rendering a determination on the issue of spousal support or maintenance (formerly referred to as “alimony”) with regard to either the amount or duration of the award, we will help you appeal that ruling.

Equitable Distribution Appeals

When a trial court has abused its discretion or committed an error of law in the classification or division of property, that determination may be reviewed on appeal. We have a long history of success appealing equitable distribution rulings.
